When the camera is used for long periods, it may be necessary to protect the lens against icing and fogging in very cold conditions (-30°C). In these cases, a flexible heating mat with applied insulation, which is placed around the camera lens and fastened by means of Velcro tape, helps. The heating bandage or heating sleeve produced by Heizteufel achieves uniform heating over the entire heating surface for camera lenses without creating hot spots or cold bridges. The lens heater is powered by a "Pro-Push" LiPo battery pack, which uses a portion of the battery capacity to self-heat the battery pack to provide full capacity performance even in very cold conditions. In addition, the battery pack is encased in a very good insulating EPDM material and features a 3-color illuminated push button heat control with heat levels (100% - 75% - 50%) to match the required heat output for the lens size and weight. A heating time of 4 hours (100% heating power) to 8 hours (50%) including the heating of the battery pack is achieved. Without this self-heating, the heating duration of the battery pack would otherwise be very short due to the cold, and the cells of the battery pack could even be damaged in very cold conditions. For longer photography periods, a double battery pack "Pro-Push-2" is recommended. The battery heating mat can be detached from the battery pack if necessary. A specially made battery bag with clip or Velcro fastening is optionally available on request.
If required, Heizteufel can also supply other sizes of heating tape for camera lenses - we look forward to your inquiry.
