Technical information about battery packs and chargers
Battery voltage:
The battery voltage is an important factor for the desired heat output and the feel-good character of our heating clothing and heating mats.
Since the heat output increases in the square of the voltage, a 7.4V battery provides 4 times the heat output compared to a 3.7V battery and an 11.1V battery even provides 9 times the heat output.
Thus, Heizteufel heating clothing achieves a higher temperature with an even larger heating surface than usual 3,7V heating techniques.
Battery types:
Lithium polymer battery cells are processed to battery packs, which are excellently suitable as small and lightweight power packs for medical, technical and sportive applications.
Balancing technology:
The battery packs come with an integrated, special protection against different charging and discharging states of the individual battery cells, which means a significant improvement in battery life compared to heating batteries with no protective circuit. Without this protection, some cells would already outgas where others have not yet reached their nominal voltage during charging.
Handling:
Heating starts when the cinch connectors are plugged together. Normally it takes about 1-2 minutes (depending on the operating voltage and ambient temperature) with each start procedure to heat through the heating clothing.
Heating duration:
A heated glove needs 1A power supply (100% heating performance) when using a Medi battery pack of 7.4V | 2.3Ah. -> The heating time is then ~138 minutes.
A heated glove needs 1.5A power supply (100% heating performance when using a Pro battery pack of 11.1V | 3.1Ah -> The heating time is then ~124 minutes.
If the batteries are operated with an integrated, adjustable battery heating control (push button), the following heating times exist:
- Level 100% (red)
- A heated glove using a Medi Push battery pack would then heat for ~138 minutes.
- A heated glove using a Pro Push battery pack would heat for ~124 minutes.
- Level 75% (blue)
- A heated glove using a Medi Push battery pack would then heat for ~184 minutes.
- A heated glove using a Pro Push battery pack would heat for ~165 minutes.
- Level 50% (green)
- A heated glove using a Medi Push battery pack would then heat for ~276 minutes.
- A heated glove using a Pro Push battery pack would heat for ~248 minutes.
Heating power:
The MEDI heating package is specially designed for the foot warmers and heated gloves and delivers a very noticeable heat output of ~13 watts over the back of the hand and fingers all the way around the fingertips. By means of an optional heating control, which is integrated in the battery, the heating power is regulated on high - medium - low as well as switched on and off. The heating package PRO is designed for the use of heated gloves in extremely cold temperatures and for the small heating mats up to 30cm in length and is therefore highly recommendable for the heated underwear "inShirt" and "inPants". The battery heating power for a glove or heating mat 20x30cm is approx. 28 Watt, which is regulated to a medium or lower power level by the battery control.
Heating package: A heating package includes all necessary parts that are important for charging a battery and for using the battery with the heating garment. While the MEDI heating package is suitable for heated gloves, the PRO heating package supports heating mats and gloves in extreme cold.
Heating control:
A special technical highlight is the contact-free battery heating control. It allows the battery to be worn on every conceivable part of the body and even under clothing. Simply stroke your hand over the battery to switch the battery ON, and it will switch on at maximum power. Another swipe of the hand switches the battery level to medium, low and then off. This battery control is ideal for applications where the control is to be worn under clothing or for people who have little sense of touch in cold conditions. The level of heating power is indicated by an LED.
For a battery with Push Heating Control, the heating control must be set to red (100%), otherwise the battery will not be fully charged.

Loading hint:
The charging power is optimally adjusted to the battery capacity. Depending on the battery type, the charging time is several hours (depending on the battery capacity), the charger switches to charge retention mode when the battery capacity is reached. If the batteries are not used for a longer period of time, they must be charged every 2 months (trickle charge).
Also make sure that the charger and battery fit together. Otherwise there is a risk of fire!
- 7,4V Medi battery = 8,4V charger
- 11,1V per battery = 12,6V charger
- 14,8V XPro battery = 16,8V charger
Problems with Heizteufel battery packs:
Make sure you are using the correct charger for your battery pack.
Charge the battery packs until the charger shows green and do not disconnect for an additional 15 minutes.
Press the cinch plugs together until nothing silver coloured is visible. Slightly turning the plug helps.
For battery packs with push button, keep it pushed for 4 seconds until the button lights up red, then release it. Only if the push button is set to 100% (red) the battery packs will be fully charged.
Battery packs to be charged individually without Y-cable.
Security:
To optimize the battery life, complex protective circuits are integrated in the battery packs, such as reverse polarity protection, a deep discharge protection and thermal overheating protection. A balancing technology provides for even loading and unloading of the individual battery cells.
The battery packs are also protected by a flame-retardant and water-repellent fabric.
The chargers also come with reverse polarity protection and thermal protection and switch off automatically.
Please do not charge the battery packs unattended!
Loss of capacity due to temperature:
Heizteufel's advanced, lightweight LiPo battery packs differ from conventional Li-Ion battery packs in such way that they have been specially developed for cold temperature applications to maintain the stored capacity by almost 20% longer. In addition, the battery packs may be specifically insulated upon request for applications (<-25°C) to reduce the loss of capacity.
